Ants are among the most common pest problems in Australian households. Ants are social insects, so once they have tracked their food source in a building, it is easy for the rest of the colony to start moving in with you. But while it is easier to tell if there is an ant infestation in your property (since you are more likely to see them foraging for food), getting rid of them on your own can be frustrating.
A frequent mistake of homeowners when trying to eliminate ants is focusing only on the ones that they see – that is, killing the ants that are on the table or walls, or those feasting on the food source. Although you might think you are really getting rid of them, you are only addressing the tip of the problem. They have most likely built their colony elsewhere, and the rest will come back again for their food and water supply.
To completely get rid of the ants, you need to be able to locate their colony, which can often be difficult. Even if you have located the colony, you will still need an efficient plan of action to be sure that they don’t get a chance to move their colony to another site before they are completely eradicated. When working with Termex Pest Management, we handle all the necessary tasks – from locating the colony to treating the infestation. If needed, we may also recommend that a barrier system be installed so to keep the pests at bay.
Getting Rid of Ants with Termidor
A trusted solution that we use at Termex Pest Management is Termidor® for Ant Control. Instead of killing the ants that is seen, this technology goes down to the root of the problem – the ant colony – stopping their population from growing. Unlike many insecticides, Termidor® does not leave any taste or smell, making it undetectable to ants.
Termidor® is applied on areas where the ants frequently travel. Once they ingest the treated material, it will gradually kill them. But that’s not the best part yet; when ants come in contact with other ants in their nest, the effect is transferred to other ants, eventually eradicating the entire colony. Ants will remove the dead individuals from the nest, so when they come in contact with dead ants, the effect of the chemical is still transferred. This process makes pest management much more efficient; in many cases, it takes only up to one week to get rid of the infestation.
If you suspect to have an ant infestation in your property and want to use Termidor® for ant control, call Termex Pest Management and we will handle the job for you. We have a team of knowledgeable experts who are well-trained in inspections and application of pest treatments.
