The first thing to do is put down that can of mortein! We need them alive. The urge to start poking around and breaking open termite infested timbers is overpowering, but must be resisted to allow for a successful dusting of the termites, which is the first stage of treatment. The dust used is either “Intruige Dust” or “Arsenic Trioxide”.
The dusting treatment is then left for 10 – 21 days when it is checked for further activity, if no further activity is found then a chemical barrier treatment can be applied to the structure.
Only when all activity has ceased should a chemical barrier be applied around the property.

Termite damage located to a ceiling truss can be concealed by fibreglass ceiling insulation. Upon removing further insulation, extensive damage was revealed throughout the roof cavity. This was the first termite inspection this property had undergone in its 15 year history. Extensive damage was found throughout the roof void and the bathroom below.
he photo on the right shows a fascia board that has been completely eaten away by termites over many years. This is a very large house and was purchased by the current owners without the aid of a competent timber pest inspection.
An inspection from a friend who knows a thing or two was all that they deemed necessary. On the contrary, extensive termite damage was located in virtually every room of the house, resulting in a repair bill of many thousands of dollars.
